Stephen H. Marcus is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota and
a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1962,
Marcus followed in the footsteps of his father Ben, the founder
of Marcus Theaters, when he joined The Marcus Corporation, a
Milwaukee-based company which operates in a variety of areas,
                  including movie theatres.

The Marcus Corporation was founded in 1935 with the opening
of a small, single screen theatre in Ripon, Wisconsin. It was
there that one of America's finest and most successful theatre
chains began. Today, The Marcus Corporation operates nearly
500 screens in Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio and Minnesota and is
rapidly expanding. From the success of Marcus Theatres, the
corporation moved into other ventures, including Marcus Hotels
and Baymont Inns & Suites. It is now publicly held and traded
in the New York Stock Exchange.

Marcus has long been active in civic and social endeavors, as
well as a patron of the Arts. He is an Emeritus Director the
Medical College of Wisconsin and has been the chairman of the
Greater Milwaukee Committee, The United Way Campaign and the
United Performing Arts Campaign. Marcus has been honored for
both his personal efforts and the tireless efforts of Marcus
Theatres on behalf of the community.

The ShoWester Award each year honors an individual who has throughout
his or her career demonstrated a dedication to the betterment
of the exhibition industry and its causes. Last year, T. G.
"Teddy" Solomon received the ShoWester award. Previous
winners include: Kurt Hall, Michael Campbell, Raymond and Joseph
Syufy, Bruce Corwin, Jerome Forman, Bill Kartozian, George Kerasotes,
