August 2010
(as seen in the Scottsdale Airpark News)
Movies in theaters are alive and well as Hollywood
continues to release some very exciting films. Why see these films
in a theater instead of at home on your great home theater system?
Some movies are best experienced on a massive screen with amazing
sound, with audience interaction, or maybe that guilty pleasure
-- with hot liquid butter poured all over that big bag of popcorn.

There could be one annoyance though -- deciding just what to see,
given there are often four or more new movies released every week.
So with your busy life, if you could see just one newly released
movie per week, which four in August should they be?

Action / Adventure, rated PG-13. Plot: Set in New York City,
Detective Gamble (Ferrell) is a forensic accountant who's

Detective Hoitz (Wahlberg) has been stuck with Gamble as his
partner ever since an embarrassing public incident with his
quick trigger finger. Gamble and Hoitz idolize the city's
top cops (Johnson and Jackson), but when an opportunity arises
for the Other Guys to step up, things don't quite go as planned.

even if it means doing it by herself. That is with a little
help from a charming sperm donor (Wilson). But, unbeknownst
to her, Kassie's plans go awry because of a last-minute
switch that isn't discovered until seven years later, when
Wally finally gets acquainted with Kassie's cute--though
                      slightly neurotic--son.

                  For the
weekend of August 27, it is “Takers”,
starring Matt Dillon, Paul Walker, Hayden Christensen, and
Zoe Saldana, directed by John Luessenhop. Genre: Action /

(Walker, Christensen) continue to baffle police by pulling
off perfectly executed bank robberies. They are in and out
like clockwork, leaving no evidence behind and laying low
in between heists. But when they attempt to pull off one last
job with more money at stake than ever before, the crew may
find their plans interrupted by a hardened detective (Dillon)
who is hell-bent on solving the case.

The other three movies opening this weekend are: Centurion,
Going the Distance, and The Last
                    Exorcism. |

Furthermore, gong to the movies still gives you the most entertainment
“bang for the buck” when compared to a similar two hour
venture at any professional sporting event, play or music performance.

                See you at the movies!

Note: While the release dates & ratings for
these movies were correct at the time of printing, studios sometimes
make last-minute changes. If this happens, we apologize for any
                inconvenience.
