Novenmber 2008
(as seen in the Scottsdale Airpark News)
Movies in theaters are alive and well as Hollywood
continues to release some very exciting films. Why see these films
in a theater instead of at home on your great home theater system?
Some movies are best experienced on a massive screen with amazing
sound, with audience interaction, or maybe that guilty pleasure
-- with hot liquid butter poured all over that big bag of popcorn.

There could be one annoyance though -- deciding just what to see,
given there are often four or more new movies released every week.
So with your busy life, if you could see just one newly released
movie per week, which four in November should they be?

                    For

Escape 2 Africa”, starring voices of Ben
Stiller, Cedric the Entertainer, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer,
Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat), Andy Richter,
Bernie Mac, and Alec Baldwin, directed by Eric Darnell and
Tom McGrath (Madagascar). Genre: animated comedy, rated
PG. The plot: Alex the Lion (Stiller), Marty the Zebra (Rock),
Melman the Giraffe (Schwimmer) and Gloria the Hippo (Smith)
return in the sequel. Still stranded in Madagascar, they
may have found a way to return home. Then again, maybe just
to Africa where the group needs to communicate with the
                      natives.

The other three movies opening this weekend are: House,
Role Models, and The Boy in the
                      Striped Pyjamas. |

For the weekend of November 14, and the Scottsdale Airpark
Movie of the Month, it is “Quantum of Solace”,
starring Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko (Max Payne), Judi Dench
(Casino Royale), Gemma Arterton (RocknRolla), Jeffrey Wright
(Casino Royale), Jesper Christensen (Casino Royale), directed
by Marc Forster (The Kite Runner). Genre: action thriller,
rated PG-13. The plot: this picks up an hour after the previous
film's (Casino Royale) ending, which finds Bond confronting
Mr. White, the man responsible for the death of the woman
Bond loved. It surrounds an all-powerful shadow organization
called Quantum, which has agents in MI6, and involves Bolivia's
water supply and a phony environmental corporation. An extra
element is Bond's single-minded quest to avenge the death,
adding significant emotion, and was such a novelty in "Casino
Royale". This forged Bond into a new kind of secret agent,
one who was raw and reactionary.

The other three movies opening this weekend are: Assassination
of a High School President, Slumdog Millionaire,
                    and Soul Men. |

that attended Julliard, who is now homeless on Skid Row. Through
a series of revealing articles, the reporter draws attention
to the musician who dreams of playing at Walt Disney Concert
                    Hall.

Australia prior to World War II, English aristocrat (Kidman)
inherits a ranch the size of Maryland. When English cattle
barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces
with a rough-neck cattle driver (Jackman) to drive 2,000 head
of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving
land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin, Australia
by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor just
                    a few months earlier.

The other five movies opening this weekend are: Fanboys,
                    Four Christmases, Milk,
The Road, and Transporter 3. |

Furthermore, gong to the movies still gives you the most entertainment
“bang for the buck” when compared to a similar two hour
venture at any professional sporting event, play or music performance.

                See you at the movies!

Note: While the release dates & ratings for
these movies were correct at the time of printing, studios sometimes
make last-minute changes. If this happens, we apologize for any
                inconvenience.
